Dickerson vs. Maguire: Did Karl Rove dissemble to the special prosecutor by not revealing he'd talked to Time's Matt Cooper about Valerie Plame? Slate's John Dickerson (Cooper's former Time colleague) suspects yes. JustOneMinute's Tom Maguire tries to shoot holes in Dickerson's account. Rove apparently claims he didn't remember talking to Cooper--it was only when Time reporter Viveca Novak tipped off his lawyer that his memory was jogged. Dickerson says it's implausible that Rove would forget the Cooper conversation after: a) Rove wrote an ass-covering email about it; b) Cooper wrote a story saying unnamed "government officials" had leaked to him about Plame; c) Washington made a big fuss over the Plame disclosure; d) Plame's husband specifically accused Rove of outing her; e) Bush's press secretary was barraged with questions about Plame leaks and seemingly denied Rove was involved; f) Rove received a subpoena with Matt Cooper's name on it; and g) Cooper made headlines by almost going to jail for refusing to talk.

I also notice that some of you have learned to like and respect others here that you wouldn't have before. The online columns by liberal TUBOB and conservative Alice Rankin here are the ultimate expression of what HBO has become. The ride keeps getting better. And there's room for more. .
Obama's Hispanderama
Among public radio programs featuring female anchors and male sports commentators who are married to each other, they're at, like, opposite poles. ... P.S.: They said NPR's "Day to Day" was going to be different too. Then they made it the same.** **--This included cancelling my occasional phoned in "blog" items. I'm bitter! But that's not what I'm talking about. ... 2:49 A.M. ___________________________ Just Do It? Note: In Wednesday's debate, Hillary Clinton did not say she was opposed to torture even in "ticking time bomb" scenarios. What she said was that As a matter of policy it cannot be American policy period. This doesn't mean she's against doing it. It means she's against making it a formal part of "policy"--a distinction her husband made clear on Keith Olbermann's Countdown Thursday.
No Boulder impeachment vote
BOULDER Boulder won't debate a measure calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney. Backers of the measure couldn't muster support from five members of the Boulder City Council to draft an impeachment resolution, even though many members said they were sympathetic to its goals. The council reached that decision late Tuesday night after hearing from dozens of activists who pleaded with them to draft such a resolution. Two Boulder police officers were stationed in the room after elected officials received threatening e-mails from impeachment opponents, City Clerk Alisa Lewis said. Deputy Mayor Crystal Gray said she received one e-mail that said the portrait of the City Council "would make a fine target for a firing squad." City Councilman Macon Cowles last week told his colleagues that he'd ask for a vote on whether to move forward with an impeachment resolution, even though he opposed taking up the measure.
Wave of anarchy blamed on Kenya's 'General Coward'
In the town of Kericho in the Rift Valley, hundreds of homes belonging to people of Kibaki's Kikuyu tribe were being set alight by gangs of youths. Kibaki's handling of the crisis, so far limited to one brief visit to displaced people and reading out a few pre-written statements insisting he won fairly, has invited fierce criticism. The normally pro-government Daily Nation newspaper warned Kibaki: 'If Kenya disintegrates, history books will record that the collapse of a once great, united and prosperous country happened on your watch'. The Nairobi Star was headlined: 'Where is Kibaki? ... as Kenya slips into anarchy'. Other questions come from millions of Kenyans struggling to understand what is happening in their country. How could people have misread a man who has been in government since independence, regarded as the gentleman of Kenyan politics? What motivated an already wealthy President, with little apparent ego, caricatured in newspapers as enjoying afternoon naps, to stage what the opposition has called a 'civilian coup'? 'I have spoken to nearly every prominent columnist in this country and asked "Did you see this coming?"' said Wycliffe Muga, one of Kenya's best-known journalists.
Welcome to Adlon Hotel in Stockholm
Can anybody tell me what is expected from my c.v and covering letter in Sweden. I am soon hoping to apply for my first job in Sweden and really don't want to mess it up! I was planning to get help writing my covering letter in Swedish, but even these letters seem quite different form any covering letter I have written in England. I was told recently that it should be a general introduction letter about myself, perhaps even with a photo, not just work related, mentioning my age my partner my interests etc....is this correct? As for the c.v should I translate it into Swedish? What order should things be in...my english c.v starts with contact info, then education, then previous employment, then additional skills/experience and finally referees....does this order stay the same? As you can see...I am not sure .

Oscars: Renee Too Skinny?
Actor Gary Busey called into E! news host, Ryan Seacrest's radio show the morning after the Oscars to apologise for startling Jennifer Garner and Laura Linney while they chatted to Ryan on the red carpet. An eager Gary walked over and lunged at them, kissing Jen on the neck. Tongues are wagging as to why former Oscar host Whoopi Goldberg was left out of a past Oscar host montage video which included the likes of Billy Crystal, Bob Hope and Chevy Chase. Chatting on The View, a hurt Whoopi said: "Undoubtedly I p****d somebody off again." Her exclusion isn't the only talking point. A number of people are upset at the late Brad Renfro being left out of a video tribute to industry people who've passed away in the last year. A rep for the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences told Us Weekly: "It really was an editing decision, because we can't fit everyone in.
Healing through movement helps the ill get fit
Q: Your program has been featured in just about every major publication, from PEOPLE to The New York Times, and on television talk shows and various health conferences. What's going on here? A: These exercises were developed with my two brothers (Dr. Joel P. Lebed and Dr. Marc R. Lebed for my mom 28 years ago because she had breast cancer and she was depressed. But as the program progressed, it started to be used for people with other illnesses. There are so many medical studies going on about it from multiple sclerosis to hospice care, even pool exercises. Who would have thought a program started for mom is now in 14 countries outside the U.S.? I'm pretty proud and amazed and so are my brothers. Q: You have trainers who teach the program and also a book, "Thriving After Breast Cancer" and a DVD, "The Lebed Method, Focus on Healing." The DVD actually best illustrates your program, I understand, because it focuses on healing dance and movement therapy? A: Well, it's fun and easy and it also increases flexibility, works on balance, may help reduce lymphedema swelling, helps decrease frozen shoulder.
