Insider's Guide: Employee Health Benefits
Here's her advice and what's worked well for her firm. 1. Choose providers carefully. Ms. Trott says she chose a broker with a good reputation in the industry who had represented some of Quantum's clients. Why did someone in the health-care industry need a broker? The company was too small to negotiate directly with the insurance company, and executives were too busy running its business and didn't have a human-resources manager. But even larger employers that don't need to rely on a broker's potentially greater negotiating power can benefit from outside assistance. A broker can help them learn what's available, think through their specifications and put together a program, Ms. Trott says. Keep in mind that brokers often are paid on commission by the insurance company, which could be reflected in the premiums.

Slim are you my long lost twin sister??? Dang, it sounded like you were describing me! I completely understand what you mean when you feel that guys don't take you serious b/c of your funny bone - I have the same thoughts. Do you ever feel like you get stuck in the "friend zone" a lot because of your humor? I do… My two favorite compliments are: "You are so funny" and "You are so intelligent/smart". I get all weird and try to change the subject when a get a compliment on my looks. As far as sexiness and a guys - outside of physical appeal, being smart is SO sexy to me. As a matter of fact, I love guys who wear glasses because it portrays a look of intelligence (to me) .
Extreme weather takes toll on farmers
With snowstorms wreaking havoc on the country's central and southern regions and drought drying up farmland in the north, the agriculture industry faces grave challenges this year. More than 11 million hectares of arable land, or 9 percent of the country's total, is drought-affected and 2.43 million people and 1.89 million livestock are short of drinking water due to the drought, the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters said yesterday. Most areas in the country's north have seen significantly lower rainfall this winter - 20 to 70 percent less than the average annual rainfall in decades, Zhang Zhitong, a researcher at the headquarters, said. Local governments have been urged to raise awareness to ensure drinking water safety and irrigation water supply for farming in the spring.

One of the characteristics of the real Cairo is the ability to fuse all the different historical eras. Walk in a street like Al-Muizz li-Din Allah or in some parts of Abassiya: Youll find that styles and histories are juxtaposed. You find a house from one era built on the remains of houses from other eras. Cairo may be one of the few cities in the world that can boast so much history, yet there are attempts to destroy it through faulty restoration. .

Credit Crunch Worries Economists
Both consumer prices and wholesale prices jumped sharply in January. In his testimony last week, Bernanke said Fed officials were watching inflation developments closely but still believed that the slowing economy would dampen inflation in the months ahead. On other topics, the NABE survey found only 35 percent of respondents ranked the government's budget policies as "about right," compared with 45 percent in August. That probably reflects projections that the budget deficit could hit all-time highs this year and next. Economists retained their support for free trade: 79 percent said they viewed greater flows of goods and capital as having a net positive impact over the next decade. But 62 percent felt that sovereign wealth funds, government-controlled investment vehicles, should be more open about their operations.
POLITICS-US: Anti-War Marches Draw Hundreds of Thousands
Like many speakers at the rally, Mason expressed disappointment that so far the Democratic Congress' opposition to George W. Bush's Iraq policy has shown itself mainly in the drafting of non-binding resolutions against his troop surge. For his part, Bush has rebuffed those efforts. "I'm the decision maker," Bush said Friday. "I've picked the plan that I think is most likely to succeed... I know there is scepticism and pessimism and that some are condemning a plan before it's even had a chance to work." Like other speakers at Saturday's rally, trade unionist Fred Mason said Bush's intransigence means Congress should immediately cut funding for the U.S. occupation of Iraq. "The American people don't want a surge in the violence and the deadly risk to their loved ones associated with this president's wrong-headed approach," he said.
